Being new to the region I was very lucky to be treated to a
special lobster dinner with my wife. My in laws brought me
to indulge the experience of Fishmans Lobster Club
House Restaurant at 680 Silver Star Blvd. Fresh and
made to order we had a 10 lbs Atlantic lobster and a 9 lbs King Crab.
From the moment you enter, the experience begins. Being greeted by a giant blue fish in a tank catches your eye. A monster 60+ pound fish the second you step in. The restaurant is buzzing with excitement. Lobster and King crab tanks up to the ceiling, surrounding the room in a complete 360 degree view. |
This Hong Kong style lobster is chopped up, lightly battered and deep fried but not greasy. Cooked just right where the meat was extremely juicy and sweet. The lobster was accompanied by deep fried garlic and shallots. The deep fried garlic and shallots was very light and airy, it did not over power the taste of the lobster. But eating it with the lobster meat gave it that extra touch of salty flavoring.
When it first came out to the table all you could smell is the deep friend garlic. It did not smell fishy at all and because it was a hands on dinner, touching the shells and breaking it by your own hands was very simple but when you get that large piece of meat out, it was the sense of accomplishment that made it taste that much better.
It almost reminded me of eating fried chicken from Popeye's. The light crispy outer exterior with a nice crunch but the taste obviously was lobster and not chicken.

This was a very unique food experience to me because I didn't even know 10 lbs lobsters exist and to have a fresh whole king crab cooked for us was unseen before in Winnipeg.
From this experience I enjoy different textures of food and the saltiness. If possible I would love to try this experience again, it was one of a kind for sure. I really enjoyed all the favors that meshed into the dish and every thing complimented each other.
